Rita’s Beer Hall Opens in Former Leeds Walkabout
Rita’s Beerhall and Ballroom officially opened its doors to Leeds on Friday, (6 December).
An exciting new addition to Leeds nightlife, promising to bring a “new vibration” to the city.
Rita’s takes the place of Walkabout, which closed unexpectedly on September 27.
Rita’s is being advertised as “the new ultimate destination for great nights out without breaking the bank” – offering live music all night, delicious pizza slices and great energy.
For students, whether you are celebrating a big deadline, in need of a study break or just needing to make it through the week, Rita’s is the “new hot spot.”
Rita’s emphasises it being the perfect location to host weekly socials, end of term nights out and much more. Their aim is to make it a destination where your night out is as affordable as it is fun.
On their student night, “Slush Wednesday!”, you can get hold of two margarita slushies for £10 between 5-9pm. You can also expect other great deals including spirit and mixers for £3, Mini Marg Shot’s for £2 and Camden Hells Pints for £3.50.

Apart from their student night, you can expect a range of entertainment daily from solo artists, live bands and DJs throughout the week. During its opening week of the 9th of December, you can expect a range of local artists including Honey Trap and Lewis Crossley to be performing at the venue.
They also offer a range of drinks and jumbo pizzas – from their unique cocktails to 24 inch pizzas.
In terms of cocktails, they price at a decent £7 per drink. Some top picks include the “Hurricane”- a rum based cocktail with pineapple juice, lime and passion fruit. The “Krispy Kreme”, a Tequila rosa based drink perfect for those with a sweet tooth. Additionally, the drinks menu includes tequila-based Slushies priced at £6 all day every day.
They also offer a signature margherita recipe called, “The Rita’s,” with four different variations on offer. From Spicy one, to fruity one there is one for every margherita lover.
On the food front, you can enjoy a 24 inch XXL pizza advertised as being perfect for 4 people to share, priced at an average £25 mark. Pizza’s include: Rita’s Marg, Prosciutto Party and The Rebel Hen – a pizza for everyone’s likes.
Additionally, they offer a moreish cheese-filled dough stick, called the “stuffed crust dippers” – with options including the Cheesy ‘Nduja and Cheese & Pine Nut Pesto.
One University of Leeds student said that “whilst Walkabout will be well and truly missed amongst the student population, I can’t wait to give Rita’s a try.”
